With reference to your letter to Ashley

Clarke No. 53504/39 of the 2nd instant, we are prepared

to furnish the Governor of the Straits Settlements with

copies of the undermentioned Foreign Office confidential

print sections:-

China Japan

Manchukuo

South East Asia ]

Since the Governor of the Straits Settlements

already receives copies of "Opium" print sections, this

means that he will now be sent the same print sections

as are sent to the Governor of Hong Kong, with the

exception of Soviet Union print.

You will doubtless

draw the recipient's attention to the necessity for

keeping the print in safe custody.
